New Year, New Tool

I got a text from my Daughter the other day.  While they were cleaning out her in-laws house she ran across a tool she thought I might like.

On the phone I could tell immediately that I did, but I really did not catch the relative size of this shuttle on that small screen.

It wasn't until I went to pick it up that I realized that this is a very special shuttle indeed!

Here it is beside my normal sized shuttles.  I haven't checked to see what size bobbins it might be able to carry, I have a feeling it will be the biggest ones I have and then some.

On closer inspection, I saw that there is not the normal slot to feed the yarn thru, though I saw signs of use.  I think I will bring it on Tuesday and see if Polly might be able to make that slot for me.  I can't wait to see how it feels to weave with this shuttle.

Happy New year to you all, Tina

Looks pretty cool LouAnn. I wonder if you could do a search and find out how it was used. Any old weaving Swedes around you? :-)
Have fun and Happy New Year to you and yours!

I haven't seen a shuttle like that in any of my books. I can't wait to hear what your research shows.

Jag tänker att detta skulle kunna vara en förbättring av en "garnsticka".
Så kan man spola garnet i stället för att vira det, och längden gör det lättare att få igenom om det är en gles varp. Jag spar fotot!

As Schultz would say,...I found nothing. Fale artut reply can be translated. It is Swedish. The other option might be to ask Joanne Hall. It certainly is an interesting piece of equipment!

Ah, weaving-terms is absolutly crazy in translated form. i was thinking that it could be a form of skyttel, instead of using a yarnwinder? yarnwinder can get stuck in the warp, this looks rather nice and interesting!

Tip from Sweden, perhaps it is used or making paterns direktly in the warp?
