What's New?

Our Logo!!!!

Laura, Jocelyn and Margi have been working with a graphic artist to develop a logo for our group.  We had four to choose from, and this one is the winner!!!

I'll get it on the blog as soon as I get the official okey-dokey!!!

I really appreciate all their hard work!

The Center Kiosk!

Pat's idea became reality, and it is now out front at the Center.

The Center was part of the "war on poverty" and a way to keep alive southern Appalachian crafts.

  Well done, Pat!

The Tuesday Weavers are participating in an exhibit at the Emporium during Convergence. We are weaving projects at home using blues and greens.  Shari and Marie put a mug rug warp on the Pup to do a group weave along.  Members can weave their mug rug on the blue warp using other blues and greens and their own pattern.  This should be lots of fun!!!

Mary has started weaving her own Hollywood rug on the Studio loom.  She's using red, gray and black fabrics for her weft.

Ruth may be new to weaving, but she has a lot of help from Carol and Sharen.

Betsy is not letting this 12 harness pattern get the best of her!  It's looking great on this painted warp.

We need some blue jean rugs upstairs!!!  Pat has this one finished, and she's ready to start another one.

Patty finished the first scarf, and she's ready to hem the second one.  She's weaving huck lace, which is always fun!

Although these aren't new projects, Shirley, Liz and Barbara are busy at their looms.

Looking good, Ladies!!!!

Stay warm!!!

And So It Goes....

You might remember this picture from last week.  Carol was using the serger to finish the ends of the cloth that Diane had finished weaving.

This is the finished product.  A bowl cozy comes in handy when you're having a hot bowl of soup or warming something in the microwave.  Handwoven cloth makes a nice, thick cozy!!!

This was Diane's first project on a floor loom!  She got started in October and finished the weaving this month.

A warm welcome to one of our new weavers, Rachel.  We are looking forward to getting to know you!

We also are excited to add Ruth to our Tuesday Weaver group.

We'll look in on their progress next week!!!!

The studio is a warm place to be on a chilly January day!

Happy Weaving!

New Year...New Beginnings

Lou Ann, Liz, Patty and Jocelyn

We didn't have a large group today, but there was still lots going on in the Studio.

Mary is ready to start weaving on the Hollywood Rug warp. The weft will get cut this week (it's a lovely red!) and then the header will be woven!  She's off and weaving!!!

Carol said she was earning her keep!!!  Diane finished weaving the cloth for a new batch of bowl cozys, and Carol secured the ends on the serger.  My job this week is to do the sewing!

Liz is still on break, and she's weaving mug rugs as she samples patterns from Strickler.  (I think these are the ones on page 12.)

This is #10 from that group!

What a great way to sample these patterns!

Pat has mastered the rounded edge on this clasp weft rug!  What a learning curve!

I think Liz is pleased with this eight harness pattern.  These will look so elegant on someone's table.

Bonnie is making progress with her towel warp.  Although she's not totally thrilled with this weave structure, she's doing a great job.

Betsy, Liz and Diane

We brought our "leftovers" to share with the other weavers.  Betsy made ham sliders, and we had another tray of sandwiches, as well as fresh veggies and cheese & crackers!  (There was some candy, too!!!)  What fun!

Stay warm and safe, fiber friends!!!
