Bunch of Band Weaving and Other Things

I brought in several books on band weaving today and some of the bands I have made recently. One of the bands I am going to use to fix a tear in the hemline of one of my favorite dresses. I just have to get the courage up to tackle it. I suppose it could fall under the category of the "Unfinished Business Challenge", maybe that will spur me on to do it before next week!

Alice has been at it again! She made several lanyards for her fellow Tuesday Weavers. I took a picture of the many yards of Inkle bands that Alice has woven recently and the current band on her loom.

JP is so close to the end of the first scarf, only a foot to go! Elizabeth is close to finishing the first section of her beginner program!

Marilyn is working on a lovely Inkle band, she started it last Tuesday and will probably finish it before next week! Sally is a new student with us and she is making great progress on her first class project.

Both Susan and Betsy are winding warps today, both warps are for table centerpieces that will be auctioned at the Fall fund raiser for the Appalachian Arts Craft Center, which is where we meet weekly on Tuesdays from 10am until 2pm. Mark is in the process of threading his bowl cozy project, in nice Fall like colors!

Recently a large handwoven blanket was donated to the Tuesday Weavers to see if we could salvage some of the material and do something with it. That project was given to Shannon to work her magic and that will play a part in our "Show and Tell" this week. Shannon took the fabric and used every bit she could to make 9 pillows. She used her own seasonal themed fabric stash to make the pillow backs, so there are 2 sets of 4 pillows. One set of pillows has fringe and the other set does not. (The 9th pillow is already spoken for.) Shannon also brought in the finished scarf from last week for us to ooh and aah over, she said that so far this was her favorite project. To make it even better, since she used leftover warp it counts towards her "Unfinished Business Challenge"!

Continuing on with "Show and Tell", Jenny brought in the finished scarves from last week and a couple of towels she made using hand dyed warp. Susan brought in placemats she made with hand dye weft and since Mark is putting on a soup cozy warp, but had never sewn one, he decided to do a trial run using some blue jean material. He had a few issues on how big of a hole one needs to leave in order to turn the cozy right side out, but has become quiet good at using a seam ripper! His daughter had asked hime to make a cozy for a pint of ice cream, he was happy to oblige. There were several requests around the room for the pattern of this unusual "pint of ice cream" cozy. So friends it is not only hot things that need a cozy, but frozen things as well!
