Wonky Week

This has been a very unusual week.  I worked several days preparing for our trip to our wonderful Accountant. To get ready, I have to make various spreadsheets, cataloging work expenses for both Dear One and Myself,  household expenses to stand up next to our housing allowance,  our charitable giving and mileage tallies for the year.

We got to the Accountant, and I realized I had left most of my spreadsheets at home!  No worry, I quickly asked if I could access the internet, I pulled up my gmail account and went to my google documents and printed out the pages I needed.  I suppose I don't need to tell you that I love google documents!

I started using google docs because my computer is not the most reliable, and I did not want to lose those documents!  Every year, after I go through a week like this, I always say that I am going to post this information each month as it happens, that way it won't be such a stressful time.  To get myself off to a good start, I spent a few hours this afternoon doing just that.  I have posted January, February and some of  March's expenses and income on brand new spreadsheets.  It is lovely, now if I can only do it every month!  Maybe I can remember do it when the credit card statement comes.  That way, I can check to see if there is an expense receipt that did not make it to the house. It would be so much easier that way!

I haven't therefore done a whole lot of weaving.  I told Dear One this morning that I simply had to do something I could post about today!  He said, "You mean that you would do something just so that you could post about it?!"  I said, "Absolutely!"  And I did!

I picked up this rug loom at Lou Ann's several months ago, and I have woven a couple of rugs with the warp that it came with. I am continuing to weave this natural warp off.  I posted last week about the black and white rug I started, well I finished it today.  You can see the funny stuff that the weft is doing on the underside of the rug.
I decided to go ahead and make another one just like it.  I will be weaving this one to 48 inches just like the last one. The width on these rugs is 32 inches, and I like to use the golden ratio to figure the length.  That is that the width  should be 2/3 the length.  It always looks good!
I noticed that one of the end bouts/sections is considerably shorter than the rest of the bouts.  That is not a problem as long as it is on the end, I will just make slightly narrower rugs!

Here is a wonky looking bout, I can't wait to see how this turns out.  It is right in the middle of the rug, and it looks menacing, though I have not had a bit of problem with the tension, so far.  It is a interesting when you inherit a project like this, you never know what you are going to encounter.
I am enjoying this loom, it is the only one I can stand up and weave on.  It is a real delight to use, and no tired butt!

Until next time, Happy Weaving, Tina

It's so nice when a loom comes out of storage and goes back to work!!! I'm proud of you for getting your taxes done....I've got to get the last of my figures done, too!

You'll have to post a photo of how you stand while you weave sometime. I'm curious to see!
