It's Tuesday again!

Yes folks, it's tuesday once again. We are all here after our week off last week, and one of the topics of conversation, or should I say, one order of business was to talk about, scheme about, and amuse ourselves talking about our 2010 weavers challenge. In the past we have ordered yarn and worked with that selection plus each weaver was allowed to add something from her stash.

This year we thought we might do something different. I will have to go back a few years to explain. There used to be a wonderful yarn shop in Oak Ridge, TN called "EVA R".

(unfortunately, I stumbled upon it as it was closing out the shop). When all the sales were finished, Eva donated some of the remains to us weavers at the community craft center. Most of what we got was crochet thread, lots and lots of colors. We have used it over the years to embellish the odd hand towel, but that was about it. I had been thinking of that thread since Sunday. I had seen a woven scarf of very fine thread, and I thought it was beautiful! I made me wonder how that thread would work up in a scarf.

When we got to talking about the challenge at lunch time I presented my idea of using that thread like yarn as our challenge yarn, (instead of buying something else), and to all do scarfs this year. It was received with great enthusiasm. So of course we had to pull it all out. The pics show some of the thread that we have.

We set the guidelines of a 5 yard warp, 6 to 10 inches in the reed. We can add something from our stash, and we can embellish as well. We have until the christmas party this year to complete two scarfs, one of which we get to keep and the other will be traded in a blind trade.

You all are going to put up with us all year to see what we have done with our challenge!

Another thing, and this was Lou Ann's idea, she came up with the idea for our christmas gift exchange. (not everyone does the challenge) We are to each get a mug, and plan mug rugs that match it! As simple or as complicated as we want. What a productive planning day this has been.

Today was Wally's first and last appearance at tuesday weavers! I got nothing done while he was awake, which was most of the time!

This Friday Lou Ann and I are going on an adventure! We are demonstrating and showing our wares in Lenoir City, TN. It will be at a music performance with a few craft booths on the side. This is our first time at this event, it will be a twice a month event. We plan to split up booth time amongst the weavers so that we need to only do about one every 6 to 8 weeks. We will let you know how it goes.
