Souper Tuesday

This was a perfect day for our Souper Tuesday.  It was gray, rainy and chilly outside.  There were five different kinds of soup and plenty of side dishes to sample.  Plus, there were some fantastic desserts!

Of all that food, the only picture I got was this huge bowl of fresh fruit salad!  I took it early and didn't get back to counter before we ate!  Barbara made this salad.

Meanwhile, say "hello" to Donna!  She is our newest weaver.  I interrupted her counting, so she probably won't forget me.  She brought her own loom to warp:  it's a 24" Leclerc.

Carol was checking on Karen as she was winding her second warp.

She also checked in with Judy and Kathy, but I didn't get their picture.

Phyllis is waiting until after lunch to put her new warp on her Rigid Heddle loom.  You can see the new warp on the table.

We were so glad to have Karin back with us now that she has retired!  She's weaving with cards on her Inkle loom.

The ladies were working on their projects.  Looks like Liz is threading while Shirley is tying on the front bar.  I'm not sure what stage Lou Ann is at.

Pearl, Jocelyn and Betsy finish out that row of lovely ladies!!!

Peggy and Sharon just set up in the middle of the isle.  It's hard sometimes to find a space for your loom!!!

Susan is already warping her loom with a new project.  Tina volunteered to help out.

Bonnie, Linda and Laura were laughing up a storm when I made my way back to their area of the studio.

Barbara cut off her roll of placemats.  Marie offered to help tie the warp back on the loom.

Pat is tied on and ready to start her new rug warp.  Those colors look so nice together.

Patty is really liking her denim Hollywood rug!  It is a fun one to weave!

Sorry I missed getting pictures of Candace's first project all finished.

  It was a BUSY day!!!

Happy Weaving!

A Bunch of Weavers!

We had three of our new weavers at the studio today.  Karen is almost through her FIRST warp!!!  Carol checks on the weavers to see if they have questions.

Susan is playing loom chicken....I'm sure that warp will come off soon!  Ruth is working on her towel warp while Shannon is working on her new warp.

Our very own Shuttle Pilot is assisting Shirley in adding heddles to her shafts.  Her new pattern called for more than she had on her loom.   Lou Ann is watching in how it's done!

What is Pat doing???  Her warp is wound on the warp beam and she's ready to thread the heddles.  It's easier to climb inside the loom to thread....not so far to reach!

Laura is getting a nice roll of placemats on her cloth beam.  The colors look so good together.

Susan won the warp chicken challenge.  She had six placemats and one table runner on that warp.

Remember when Marie helped Phyllis warp her rigid heddle?  Well, here she goes!!!!

Liz got her warp on the loom, threaded and sleyed!  She was busy tying her slip knots before she ties them to the bar.

Betsy is using the second threadling for this blanket.  The blue really shows up the pattern!

Marilyn, Lou Ann and Pearl got time this afternoon to work at their looms.

Patty is using blue jean strips on this run of Hollywood rugs.  It's looking great.

Barbara is working on more placemats on the white warp.

I peeked over Bonnie's shoulder to get this shot of her twill towels.  That is such a fun pattern.

This is Sharon telling me she did NOT want me to take her picture.  But, here it is!

I'll be adding our new group picture in a little bit.  What a group!!!!

Happy Weaving!

It Does Take A Village

One of the things I love about the Tuesday Weavers is how we learn from each other and jump in to help each other.

Marie took over teaching duties on Phyllis's rigid heddle as she dressed her RH for the first time.  Judy wanted to know more about it, so she was there to help.

Pat had wound her new warp and was getting it on the back rod.  Over and over again folks asked her if she wanted some help!  No....she would wait until next week when we WIND it on!  All hands on deck!

She wanted to get as much done as possible since she would be leaving early.  Laurie, Pat's sister-in-law, is visiting from Idaho!  I'm sure they have a lot of adventures planned for today.

Now this group....

They are always up to something!!!  It looks like Shirley is getting ready to put on a new warp.  We'll have to find out next week what she's going to weave.  You can bet she'll have a lot of help getting the warp on the loom!

Kathy is enjoying the threading process on her loom.  She has been a rigid heddle weaver for a couple of years but was looking to weave some different patterns.  I think she'll do just fine.

Patty is busy cutting off some rugs and tying slip knots on the warp.  We don't want it to slip through the reed!

Barbara is using those cloth strips for her weft.  The placemats are lovely!

Patty had five rugs on the cloth beam.  The red one near the door was woven by Mary.  The other four were woven by Patty.

You should have heard everyone admiring them.  A lot of the weavers had never seen a Hollywood rug.

Betsy is finishing up the red weft, and she'll be starting the second blanket using blue.

Jocelyn has started on the leftover warp on this scarf warp.

Jocelyn received a small skein of qiviut from a good friend who thought she might like to weave with it.  But, Jocelyn has a friend who knits like an angel!  Tina turned the small skein into a lacy cowl instead.

Oh, my!!!  It's so soft!

It's just Pearl.....that's her "don't interrupt me" look!

Our village at work!  Patty is helping Shannon dress her loom.  It goes so much faster when you have help.

Sharon is back to work finishing the scarf warp.

From my village to yours:  Happy Weaving!

It's Still New!!!

Have you written your first "2023" check?  I had to stop and think for just a second!

Dayle wanted to start something new.  Marie is helping her warp her brand new rigid heddle.

Kathy is also a new weaver!  She got her warp wound and now it's time to wind it on the loom.  Carol always guides new weavers through these first steps in dressing the loom.

Pat is back with us and she's ready for a new warp!  She and Carol came up with this selection of colors for the warp.

Bonnie and Linda just keep on working on their towel warps. Linda's cloth beam is filling up again!

Here's another new 6 yard warp getting wound today.  Liz is planning on making some placemats.

These three are having too much fun!  Sharon is actually finishing off the scarf that was on this loom.

Jocelyn only has a few more inches before she's ready to hemstitch.  She probably has enough warp left to make a mobius scarf.

Betsy's warp is behaving, so she just keeps weaving along!

It looks like there are a few rugs on that cloth beam!  Way to go, Patty

Enjoy all the new and cherish the old....stay warm and safe!

Happy New Year!!!

It snowed last week, so we missed a week of being together!  I think we had a lot of catching up to do!

Marie is working on the shop sales for December.  We did pretty good!!!  Liz and Liz chatted while Liz looked for her next new project and Liz wove on her project.

Lou Ann needed a counting thread for the placemat warp she's winding.  But, it's always interesting to listen in on conversations!  Judy, Carol and Karen were deep in discussion!

  Marilyn always has a smile!!!

She showed off the finished scarf on her loom.  She has already started on the second one.

Ruth is working hard on her towel warp.  Those are favorite colors for lots of folks!

Be sure to click on the picture to take a closer look at Bonnie's towels.  I think she's pleased!

I think Laura is having too much fun with these placemats.

We got a bunch of cut fabric and the weavers are having a ball using them in their warps!

Phyliss joined us today because she received a rigid heddle loom for Christmas.  But, she had no idea how to put it together!

Between Shirley and Tina, Phyliss left with a complete loom.  I think she's coming back next week to get some warping help from Marie.

Peggy joined us today so she could work on her placemat warp.  Word is that her husband dyed his hair BLUE for their trip to see the grandkids!!!!

The first Tuesday of the new year we gather for lunch across the street at the Museum of Appalachia.

I'll just name the ladies at each table for you:  Linda, Liz, Liz, Jayne and Carol.

At this table we had:  Shirley, Marie, Laura, Lou Ann and Marilyn.

Barbara, Phyliss, Tina and Ruth sat together at this table.

Front to back:

Karen and Judy

Nikki and Cathy (visitors)

Another thing we like to do is set individual weaving goals for the new year.  (The pandemic interfered with this the last few years!)

You might want to set a weaving goal for this brand-new year!

Stay safe & warm!
