Towel One

This is the end of towel number 1.  All that there is left to do is a little bit of plain weave and then start the next one.

I was having a terrible time with the selvedges until I brought out the alligator clips and weights.  Once they were in place not a single broken thread.

I have been daydreaming about what I could do with this pattern, and I have come up with a couple of ideas.  I could weave them just as I did this one, all one color, Twill center and pattern on each end.  I could also use white on the twill parts and a color on the pattern.  I could take out the center patterns and have a pattern in each corner of napkins, it goes on and on,  it is some place to start though.

Their are two threadings to these pattern motifs and I am not sure I like how I placed them.  The way they are right now are threading 1, threading 2, threading 1, threading 2.  Maybe I should have done it differently like P1, P2, P2, P1, or something similar.  I will continue  weaving the towels threaded as they are right now, but I will make some of the above color changes before I change the threading. I plan to do 6 towels like this, in navy, 6 towels using white as the twill weft and navy in the pattern.  I have a lovely camel colored thread that would really look nice, I may try some of that.  I also have a ton of cotton flake in all sorts of colors, I may see if that works up  clear enough to show the pattern. Then I will do some of those same variations, but this time making napkins. ( I need some new ones!)

Once I have done all that I think I will know if I want to make any changes to the threading. I will keep the blogs up to date with my slow progress. I never know how much weaving time I am going to have in any given week, some weeks are better than others, life does happen!

Until next time, Happy Weaving, Tina

I have started my March socks, and I posted about them on my Farmstead Studio blog.

The navy looks great...I'm looking forward to seeing one with the camel color, also. Have fun with your pattern variations.

The towels are great. Can't the mind just take you to unlimited options.
