Open Porch

We had so much fun yesterday during my very first "Open Porch",  that I forgot to take any pictures!  I will open the porch again next week and I, pinky promise, to take some pictures then!  It looks like it might be a completely different group of people next week, I say the more the merrier!

A couple of the girls had some questions about the use of "Tabby" in weaving drafts.  I tried to explain it, but then, I remembered that I had a sample warp on the Sears Hearthside loom, and that I was needing to do a sample of overshot using rug weft instead of yarn.  We trooped upstairs to the studio, and I was able to show them how tabby is used in overshot.

This is the same project sample that I took the swedish book to Norris a couple of Tuesdays ago.  I couldn't for the life of me figure out what I was looking at, and Carol glanced at it and said something to the effect of, "they used overshot, here you can see the tabby."

Well duh!  Anyway I am happy to see how this project is going to look.  There is a lot of figuring that I still have to do, but the basic weaving has been figured out.

Open Porch was so much fun, even though it was a little chillier than I had hoped it would be.  (Hopefully next week will be a bit warmer.) I had hot and iced drinks, a couple of appetizer trays and some cookies.  Everyone brought their own lunch and something to share.  I can't wait  until next week!

Until next time, Happy Spinning, Knitting and Weaving, Tina

Porch Day was lots of fun, and I'm glad that the "girls" got to see your studio. I remember when overshot was a mystery to me! I'm glad they could see you weave some of it.
