Short Road Trip

Our daughter's BFF is a vet tech down in Tallahassee. She has several larger dogs and a cute cat. Feeling sorry for the cat who is scared of her dogs, she talked DD into taking the cat. Of course, we had to go get her!!
So we left Thursday evening, driving down below Atlanta by about midnight. Then got started driving Friday morning.....in the rain?? Yup, it rained all weekend. We had planned to just drop her off at her friends and head south to the gulf but with a cold rainy weekend forecast, we decided to just find a hotel in Tallahassee and see what we could find.

DH spent summers growing up near Hilton Head, so seeing moss growing on trees has a real nostalgic feel about it for him.

I loved how the breezes blew the moss to and fro as the rain and mist continued....
It's a good thing that we always pack plenty of work to do when we go places like this, just incase. We did get a good bit done but we also went antiquing. Found this chair for DD at a shop for $20. I thought it was a good buy, nice and sturdy.
So, yesterday morning we picked up DD and Miss Kitty about 8am and headed back north. I think cats have about as much stuff as babies!! The back seat was full with litter boxes, toys, structures to play on, etc.  BFF had given her a real chill pill and promised that she would sleep for 6 to 8 hours. Well, no one told Miss Kitty about that! She complained all the way to Macon. She would quiet down if DD had her fingers through the grate of the cage but the minute that hand got removed, she would complain again. Since we really don't know the cat, we were leery about taking her out of the carrier so in there she stayed, often facing away from DD as if to say, I'm so over this!! She dozed a bit inbetween but not much. I'll bet she slept well last night!!
We got her things up to the apartment in the evening  and then opened the cage for Miss Kitty to come out.
She headed straight under a cabinet. So we moved her water bowl over there incase she was thirsty. After all, she'd eaten a bit of food when we first started but then refused it all. However, she wasn't interested in that either, only in finding somewhere smaller to hide......
By really forcing herself, she crawled under an elfa storage cabinet DD has........

We talked to our daughter later in the evening and she had come out by herself and was on the sofa right next to her, loving being petted. With no big dogs around to scare her, I think Miss Kitty will be in heaven! She'll have some big windows to sit at to watch the world go by and a loving owner who will take good care of her. We think Miss Kitty is about 5. BFF had adopted her when her first owner couldn't care for her, so she's been moved around some. This is her forever home.
So, we didn't get to see the beach but we had a good time. Of course, we left Tallahassee while it was still misting and cold but I'm sure the minute we got north of the Florida border, the sun came out and it was warm again!! Next time.....
This week will be all about weaving again. I got some done last week but hope to get a couple of warps done this week. But, you never know when there'll be something interesting to do around the corner. Sometimes warps just have to wait.
Until next week, keep weaving!
