I have had this thought for a while about using self patterning sock yarn to make a scarf. I wondered how the pattern would look compared to knitting a sock with it. So, this week I took at look at what JoAnn's etc. had to offer. They were pretty low on sock yarn but I did find five skeins that were ok. I am going to try it as weft this time. Now to decide what color to use for warp. I was thinking black but my friends, the Tuesday Weavers, didn't like that idea. Yesterday I went to a local yarn store, Clinch Valley Yarn Co. I had narrowed it down to two colors, a green or a purple. I decided on the purple. Yesterday I wound the warp and put it on my Structo loom. It is half threaded and I hope I can get the rest threaded today.
I only bought one skein of the solid color yarn and when I wound the 96 ends I needed this is what was left!
Here is a picture of the warp on the warping board with the sock yarn so you can see the colors. The picture doesn't show that there is green and blue in the yarn very well.
Well, that is all I have for today. I am spending the day with my DH. I am sitting in Panera Bread writing this while he makes a quick run out to work. I am so glad they aren't playing jazz!!

You really cut it close on that one! I can't wait to see how that scarf look when you get it done.
I know you'll finish that scarf quickly...please bring it by so we can see! I love the colors.
You are right, the picture does not do that yarn justice. Glad you decided to use the purple. It will do great. Love it. Just barely had enough yarn. WOW. Have fun with DH.
What fun! You re really good with your measuring, and I can hardly wait to see that scarf.
Don't you like jazz?
No, not at all. I like classical music much better.
I like the purple!
