Sick Days!

I have been sick this week, a head cold thing.  So, I have closed myself in my Studio to keep the germs away from the "in town" grand babies, cause they are going on vacation very soon!  I did not want to give them an unintended present from Mimi!

That means that I have been keeping my sorry self busy, with all the things that need to be done in the Studio, that I don't usually do!

I found a huge pile of items that needed to be hemmed and washed.  I sorted by the color of thread I would need to use in order to hem them, and I set to work.  First white thread then natural, and finally the different colors, red, blue and green.

(I still need to wash them, iron, inventory and tag them.)

I also knitted and unending i-cord so that I could put the loops on  these overshot potholders.  Though, I must say that as potholders they do a sorry job, so I think I am going to call them mug rugs!  They will make great gifts!   These don't have to be washed, just inventoried and tagged!

I also got around to pretreating some of the deeper red colors of 8/4 carpet warp that have bled so badly in my baby blankets.  I still don't think I have the heart to try another blanket with them.  Maybe I will do some all one color textured placemats with them instead.

I was going to do some of the blues today, but I think that will wait for another day.

What?  What's that you say?  Oh, you mean the pictures of fibery goodness on the right of your screen?  Well, if you must know,  the first two pictures, are of the brown Johnny Depp Shetland fleece (so named because the raw fleece reminded Lou Ann of Jack Sparrow!) being transformed for the Tour de Fleece 2013, Team Homesteadingtoday, and then next, all those lovely colors are from that Shetland fleece I dyed my very own self, just a few weeks ago!  I will be spinning those on the Ashford team.

Do you have time for one more?

This is some of the last of my homegrown fleece.  This is from my twin lamb rams.  It was commercially prepared as roving, but I am not really pleased with the presentation.

So I am combing it and just look at that creme puff!  I will be spinning this for the Spindlers team, probably on the great wheel.  I don't think I will get bored do you?

I am beginning to see the end of this sore throat, crud and cough, I hope nobody I know has gotten it from me!  I have woven a little, in Studio A, but nothing really to post, about today,

Until next time, Happy Spinning and Weaving, Tina

The Capt. Jack Sparrow fleece is sooooo lovely! I would never have thought those dread locks would have worked up so nicely!
