Texas Sweeties!

I went to Texas last week to see my Mom at her annual family reunion.  We have had, some years, well over 100 people attend!  I saw cousins I haven't seen in years, and there was a cool slide show of the past 60 years of reunions!  It was so hot outside, (110 F!) that we mostly stayed inside to watch it.  There were over 500 photos, from my great grandmother, down to the newest great grandchild.

Mom and I had a great visit, and we got to room together at the motel, and breakfast with the relatives that were staying there before we took off for the reunion spot, lovely, one light, Idalou.  My Cousin's son has taken over the hosting of the reunion, and this year he had an above ground pool that the kids really enjoyed.  We were only 38 attendees this year, a little slim, but we made up for it in laughter!  You know how there is always the retelling of stories we have heard for years, and laughed at, well we laughed at them again.  We ooohed and aaaahed over the babies, and marveled at how they looked just like aunt or uncle so and so!

Then there was the food: brisket, ribs, and fried chicken, cold salads galore, watermelon, cantaloupe and cookies.   Aunt Chris' Texas style Chocolate sheet cake, is an annual hit, as is the banana pudding! Yum!

We all ate too much, and we were sad to see the relatives start trickling off come sunday afternoon.  By the time everyone had gone, and my cousins place was back in order it was 4:00pm.  I said goodbye to Mom and headed of to Midland to see my Son and his wife and grandbabies.

We had a wonderful 3 full days to play!

We played and played, and when we weren't playing we were napping!  One of the things I really wanted to do was go to a build your own ice cream place that is in town.  It wasn't until Wednesday afternoon that we got the chance.

I think that says it all!

It was sad to leave, but I had a flight to catch back in Lubbock.  I made it to the airport in good time and I was so happy to get back home once again, and back into my regular routine.  Now maybe I can get some weaving done for the fall show!

Until next time, Happy Weaving, Tina
