Shaggy rug #2

Today I started another shaggy rug. I wasn't sure what color combinations I wanted to use so after some thought I decided on off white selveges and blue with white mixed in. I am using two shuttles and alternating the colors. I think I like the effect. The blue is darker than the picture shows. The shag on these selveges is shorter than the ones on the last rug.

See the shuttle? It has a name and date on it. It is from the 1800's. I love old things. They make me wonder who owned it before me. What we they thinking? What did they look like? What did they wear?

The other thing I worked on was the Lervad loom. This is the prettiest loom I have ever seen. It got all out of whack in the move so today that is what I worked on. Origonally it was tied up with ropes. I find them frustrating. I like to use Texolve cords. They make the job so quick and easy. Now this loom is almost ready for a warp. I think I will make scarves on this loom. This picture was taken in the old studio.

Well. that is all I have for today. I hope you all are staying warm. We had a couple of spring like days but now winter has returned.

The rug looks great! I really like the use of alternating the blue and white weft. I bet it feels really good on your bare feet, too!!!

I love old shuttles and weaving things, too. I bought some stick shuttles that were signed by a previous owner, and that inspired me to do the same. So, I now but my name and the date I purchased it on the item (usually shuttles) so that future users of it will have a glimpse of its history.
