Bowl Cozy

Our challenge this winter was to create a bowl cozy using handwoven fabric.  You can look at Tuesday's blog and see the results!  Our weavers can truly rise to the challenge.

My fabric was a dishtowel that I wove at the Center that had a threading mistake....and maybe a treadling mistake, too!  Oh, my!!!

One of the challenges of using handwoven fabric is that it is thicker than using commercial fabric.  Normally you would use quilt batting between the layers, but I used flannel with this fabric.

The pattern for the bowl cozy came from YouTube....there are a whole bunch of videos to choose from.  This ten inch square accommodates both sizes of my Fiesta bowls, which was one of my goals.

I have another towel from that batch....you can really see the threading error in this picture!  (On the left just in case you missed it.)  I don't know what this towel will become.......

We have challenges to push us to think outside the box.
"What else can I do with this?"
"What happens if I do this?"
  "What else can I weave?"

This challenge has helped me come full circle back to my first fiber love:  sewing.
I wove the fabric, and I made something with it.  Life is good.
  Happy Weaving!

Okay, I've stared at the turquoise towel, and can't see the mistake! But I like the using up of "mistakes!"
