Not so Hot July 7th

The recent heat wave in our area has broken at least for this week, our temps shouldn't reach 90F, fingers crossed! Even so it was great to pass from the parking lot into the air conditioning of our Basement class space at the Appalachian Arts Craft Center near Norris, TN. We had a full house today, almost every loom has a weaver in tow. Several looms are being warped many projects are at the weaving stage and at least one warp was cut off this week! Joycelynn cut her shawl warp off before she left today and she wants to try a more decorative fringe treatment that just twisting the fringe.
Shannon has a scrumptious warp ready to go onto the loom!
I think this is Cathy's warp because of the variegated weft yarn.
Rhonda's blanket warp is progressing.
Colleen is weaving hand towels in "Summer and Winter"!
Mark is putting a napkin warp on the Norwood loom.
We have a new student today! Karen was winding her warp as I was going out the door!
Before you know it lunchtime has arrived and after that a moment to discuss business.
Following our lunchtime we always have an opportunity for Show and Tell. Rhonda took advantage of the blazing heat in her greenhouse and did some solar dyeing of Mohair locks from her own Angora goats!
Shannon finished a custom order of bowl cozies in Shadow weave using 8/4.
Patty handwove a liturgical stole for her husband's cousin who was recently ordained. Patty also did the embroidery and taylored the stole to fit neatly around the neck.
I took advantage of several days alone recently and in honor of our "what are you waiting for" challenge I hand dipped 64 beeswax candles! I also blended some home grown Nigora with silk and made a lace weight 2 ply yarn to finish a project that I have been working on.
Mark brought in the last of his placemats and true to our policy, he wove to the very end and ended up with a tiny one!
That is all for this week, check back next Tuesday to what else we get into! Until then this is Tina, for all!
