You Can Always Tell When Carol is Out of Town!

Carol has been gone for several weeks now and it will be several more weeks before she makes it back from her Canada trip. So items that are ready for the shop upstairs are starting to pile up!!!
There was a lot happening in the Studio this morning. Linda finished her scarf warp.
Judith has begun weaving the first rug on the Studio Loom.
Betsy is almost finished threading her warp, and Karins hand dyed scarf warp is loving the weft she chose!
Jenny's fabric is marvelous, again one of our hand dyed warps!
I saw Mark preparing strips of fabric for his placemats, he was lining them up and getting ready to go to the sewing machine.
It was then lunch time, everytime a month has 5 Tuesdays, we have a potluck meal. This months theme was a picnic.
After lunch and after a short business meeting it is time for Show and Tell! Pat brought in some marvelous all wool rugs! She says she was stash busting!
Susan finished her wool mix scarves and brought them in for us to see, Shannon brought in a piece of fabric she had woven for a special bag. This is the fabric before the project is made. Alic also brought in a place mat she had finished at home and a napkin that she wove using the same warp but finer weft!
I brought in my latest piece of Bobbin Lace. I brought in the lace, the pricking and the pattern I followed. I also showed the next project I was working on. Mark brought in some big cones of yarn he got in Asheville at a huge yarn swap, but I can't remember it's name! When I find out I will come back and let you know! Found it! It was "The Anything Fiber Sale" sponsored by Local Cloth in Asheville. (Thanks Mark!)
That is all we have for today. Until next week this is Tina, for all!

Hand dyed Magic!

Phyllis was in the studio today, she is weaving on one of our hand dyed warps. She is also using some hand dyed weft, and I am totally smitten with the results!
Erin supervized her Mom, Elaine as she wound her second warp. Shirley has begun weaving that scrumptious warp that Carol wound (I also see Marilyn behind Shirley!) and Betsy is ready to thread the heddles on her towel/gift bag warp.
Judith is cutting the fabric for her rugs this week, she is going to take the strip home and fold and iron it so that it will not have any raw edges. Liz is weaving huck lace napkins using white as the warp and linen color as the weft, love it!
Now it is time for Show and Tell! Judith brought in 2 scarves and a towel that she had finished at home. Linda made some more "Cocktail carpets" I brought in a loom donating that turned out to be from the "Missouri Loom Co." and Mark brought in a coke cozy that he wove in double weave.
What a great day in the studio, See you next week! Until then this is Tina, for all

Quiet Day in the Studio

I am looking at the pictures I took today at the Center, and it is a little random collection of the day. We were low in numbers for sure so it was quieter than usual. Marie and I went through the items that were previously in Gatlinburg, that needed to go back into the inventory upstairs. We made a list of the items that needed to have a new SKU tag, we took that back upstairs so that the new lables could be made. Speaking of lables, Marie brought in the lables we had made for the Tuesday Weavers!
Liz is threading her napkin warp. (There was other weaving going on, but that didn't make it to my camera today.) I looked up from the table where I was talking to Marie about something to find the whole back row in giggles! I won't say who was telling jokes but I know who it was!
Now for Show and Tell! Dana was with us today, she brought in some Blackwork embroidery and some lovely towels she made for a client.
Jenny brought in 3 skeins of handspun. One was Gotland, one was Merino wool that she had handdyed before spinning and the last we think is Shetland. Jenny also brought in a shawl that she had made and she had a question about finishing it.
Marie brought in her finished towels that we had a sneak peak sometime in the last 2 weeks, and finally I brought in a bit of lace I took off the pillow this week.
After Show and Tell and as things started winding down I saw the door open and some of the girls looking outside. "It's raining" they said with big smiles.
We sure needed that!!! Until next week, this is Tina, for all
