Winding Warps, Threading Looms and Show and Tell

It was a little quieter in the studio today, but there was still plenty going on! Jenny is weaving on a hand painted warp today. Shannon is putting on a new warp in a Herringbone pattern.
Pat is back and working on a new rug on the Barn frame loom, and Pearl is threading a new blue warp! Marilynn is winding a new warp, but she had to reach to get to the top of the warping board, so we found her a step stool!
Betsy was also winding a warp but I totally missed getting a picture of it. There was also some warps and skeins being wound for our next dye day, but again I missed getting a picture. One of the comments on last weeks post was asking about the "lawn chair" pattern that Laura is weaving. This pattern comes from Strickler's book on 8 shaft patterns. It is in fact a project for 8 shafts.
Mark showed me that one of the warp threads on his loom was looking a little frayed. So I got plain ole Elmers glue and showed him how to coat the thread with just a tiny bit of glue. Once it is dry, maybe 5 minutes, you can weave without further fraying. The glue washes out with the first wash.
Now for Show and Tell! Jenny found a copy of "Keep me warm one night" at a very good price! Michel made placemates for her sister, there were supposed to be 8 but she ended up with 7. She and her sister decided that 7 was the perfect number! Pat brought in some bowls cozies and a napkin project fresh off the loom, she wove the hem area in a much finer yarn.
Phyllis brought in the scarf that she had finished weaving last week and Patty showed us a very black very wide and very long shawl that she wove for a customer. I hope the lace shows up in this picture!
That is all I have for you today, join us again next week for more weaving fun! Until then this is Tina, for all!

I'm not the one who asked about Laura's pattern, but I'm glad someone did! I'm curious about it every time I see it. I do have Strickler's book and just got my 8-shaft loom up and running, so I see this in my future somewhere.

Great tip about the Elmer's, too!
