Out With the Old and In With the New

As I approached the door to the Weaving room I saw a loom on the doorstep. It seems that this loom is going to the annex until it can be repaired.
That left an empty space in the room!
Never fear, the plan is to bring our dear Sharon's Mighty Wolf to take its place! Hark, I hear a truck! The moving team was back in record time and we quickly got the new loom where the old loom had been just 30 minutes before. Shannon is going to enjoy weaving on this new to us 8 shaft loom!
for Show and Tell Linda brought in a scarf that she had made with yarn from Sharon's stash and a Patty hat! (We call them Patty hats because our Patty showed us the pattern.)
Judith brought in a scarf that she had made, I think it looks hand dyed!
After lunch Pat and I set about recovering the bench on the old barn loom. The old cover was faded and torn in several places. It only took about 20 minutes and it looks so good, I told her that we need to keep one of those sticky roller thingies to keep the threads off of it!
Alice was looking through some photos on her phone this week and she came across one that made us all smile. It was taken, I think, when we moved the old barn loom to the center of the room to make it easier for Carl to get to it. So that would make it 4 or 5 years ago, if I am not mistaken. In the photo you can see front and center Bonnie Miller who we lost before 2020, she is doing what she often did, she was vacuuming the rug, clearing up the bits and pieces that always end up on the floor. To the left of her there is Sharon, who we lost late last year, and to the right of her is LouAnn, who we lost just a few short months ago. I hesitated to put this photo in this blog because of the theme I had chosen for the day. But, even though we do have new young weavers coming into the group that replace those precious ones we have lost, the old weavers/ friends are not discarded, or religated to the annex, but they are fond memories that we will cherish. We will speak their names, so that they are not forgotten and we will pass on to these new young weavers all that they taught us through the years. Until next week, Tina for all

How sweet. I love that Sharon’s loom comes into the fold.
