Teamwork X 2, Weavers and Warps and Show and Tell

Supplies came in this week for us to make small tapestry loom kits. We have done stick loom kits for years with good results. A couple of weeks ago Marie showed us a small wooden tapestry loom that she thought was affordable and that could use to encourage more weaving in the non weaving public. Today several of us went to the annex and we went through some of the pretty knitting yarns that we have in stock. We made lots of small balls of yarn for the kits and I took some white acrylic yarn and I wound about 50 @ 8 yard warps to go into the kits. We will need to make the necessary instructions and lables before they will be ready to sell, but we are well on our way.
Irene is our resident boundweave weaver, she makes bags and tapestries using that technique and this week she brought in a mug rug she had made from her weaving.
Patty is twisting some fringe on a mixed warp shawl she finished this week.
Both Rhonda and Shannon are threading their new project warps.
Betsy is making great progress on her bowl cozy warp, and Liz #2 is working on another baby blanket. She told me that the next one she weaves will be stripes of green and cream to mimick the warp.
Cathy has begun weaving on her new scarf, I can see the fuzzy yarn in the fabric, so cool!
Susan #3 is continuing on her towels. I happened to catch her while she was working on an inlay section that is part of the hem. Susan wove in a larger cord which will be removed when the piece is further along.
Speaking of Susan, she and Jenny have been taking turns all day winding skeins for this weekends Dye Day.
Time for Show and Tell!!! Betsy brought in some fabric that she had woven at home with a variety of yarns. She brought it to Laura so that she could work her magic and make it a top! (I just love teamwork!)
Rhonda brought the placemats and a runner that she had recently finished here at the center and she also brought in a scarf project that she made at home.
That is all I have for today friends. Come back next week to see the results of dye day and all the other stuff we get into. In two weeks the "Unfinished Business" Challenge will come to an end and everybody is supposed to bring a list of the things that have done in the last 5 months that had gone undone for a long time. (even a project they decided not to do at all counts!!!) Until then, this is Tina, for all!

Table Toppers, Dye Day Prep, Weavers and Looms

Karin and I both brought in our contribution of Table Toppers for the Fall Fund raiser. I had 8 and Karin had 8, when we added in the Table Toppers that were already in the studio we have 24. We only need 1 more to make the 25 that were ordered! (we will double check that number of course). I have an extra one at home that I can hem and wash to bring in next week. Several other weavers are working on the Table Toppers as well and we can add in their toppers to broaden the variety for the fundraiser and we can have some for sale in the shop upstairs or save a batch for our Fall show.
Jenny and Dana spent the day winding skeins of "Popcorn" for a "Dye Day" which is coming week after next.
Let's stroll about the room and check in with some of the weavers and see their current projects. Cathy told me she was making a 6 inch scarf. She laughed when I looked at her funny and then said that she did the math wrong once again!
Shirley is ready to get weaving on her latest towel warp.
Liz has a hand dyed shawl project that is hard to photograph, there is so much going on in the warp that it took several pictures to capture it. Liz will be using gray as her weft.
Nikki is one of the weavers that is going to be weaving Table Toppers. She is threading heddles this week.
Laura is weaving the penultima "Lawn Chair" Towel on the baby Macomber 8 harness. There is still some warp on the back beam, so she plans to put in the lease sticks and rethread for something different.
Just like that it is time for "Show and Tell"! Linda brought in 6 placemats and a runner that she hemmed, washed and ironed this week.
Samantha joined us for lunch and to show off an inkle band and a lovely bit of bobbin lace she finished this week.
Shannon dropped by this afternoon to bring back some supplies she had used at home and she also had a bowl cozie to show us that she had woven at the Heritage Center in Townsend TN.
Well friends that is all I have for you today. Join us next week and see what we get into, until then this is Tina, for all!

Pretty Warps, Table Toppers and "Show and Tell" Times Two

There were several warps going on the looms this week. Liz #1 is threading her hand dyed warp while Dana, Nikki and Patty were getting Nikki's warp ready to thread. I think this will be for some Table Toppers for the Center's fundraiser this Fall.
Linda is putting on a warp for some more Table Toppers! We do need 25 of them! and Cathy is putting on a mixed warp.
After our lunch time business meeting it is time for "Show and Tell"! They sent me some pictures from last weeks "Show and Tell" so I will go thru them first. Patty brought in some napkins that she brought home from a recent overseas trip.
Shannon finished her Table Toppers and had some fabric left over, so she made a pumpkin and some mug rugs!
Mark had some unfinished business that he finished! These towels were a forgotten warp from 2024!
Now for Today's "Show and Tell"! Cathy did the finish work on her mixed warp with linen. She washed in and treated the linen with conditioner to get the fabric she wanted. Love the crinkle look!
Alice has some finished bookmarks and a finished fabric for a shawl for the "Unfinished Business" Challenge! Irene finished another bag and she likes it so much she is going to keep it!
I brought in 4 of the Table Toppers that I had finished and Linda brought us a blanket that had come to us from Sharon's estate 2 years ago. Linda took on the job of doing the finishing work, and we can count this towards the current Challenge!
Mark brought in a couple of projects that didn't go the way he wanted. In the bowl cozy project pictured the serger just went haywire! It happens to the best of us!
That is all for today friends! Tune in next week for more fun, until then this is Tina, for all
