Community, Donations, Dye Day Results and Show and Tell!
One of our new students Alanna brought in some donations from a friend of hers who is getting ready to move and couldn't take her weaving equipment. She asked that the looms be given to weavers who would in turn would pass them on free of charge to other weavers. Looms of all sizes and a warping board.(not pictured) Another donation came our way this time it is a Fricke electric skein winder that just needs a new drive band!
I was struck this morning by the community that we have here at the Appalachian Arts Craft Center of Norris, TN! We meet from 10-2pm every Tuesday, and if you were to drop by to see us you would see something like these pictures in action. Winding, warping, weaving, laughing and talking, oh the talking!
I have some weaving examples as well. Rhonda's towel warp is stunning in color choice as well as texture, and Susan #3's fabric warp is living up to everyting I could have dreamed.
Linda finished her placemat warp today, love the texture, I sure hope it comes through in the picture! Jenny is photo bombing and Susan #3 is enjoying it!
Well what do you know, it is already time for Show and Tell! Dana has a non weaving project to share with us today. This is a duck plastic bag holder.!
Jenny and Collen have some fabric that they dyed on our Dye Days last week, they plan to use them in rugs. I also got a some pictures of the skeins and warps that were dyed as well.
Betsy brought in some family treasures to show us today! Baby shoes, cross stitched and embroidered napkins and table cloths, a delicate example of cut work and an embroidered gauze fabric. All of these items came from Betsy's great Grandmother who spent vacation time in China and who as Betsy says "Loved to shop!"
Mark was visiting his sister sometime last year and saw that she had bought some yarn and knitting needles to make a scarf but had never made it. He asked if she would like for him to weave a scarf for her instead and she said yes!
Well friends here we are, another Tuesday in the bag! Check in next week and see what we get into! Until then this is Tina, for all!
