June Dye Day Photos!

Last Thursday and Friday, Carol hosted a Dye Day at the Weaving Center. From the photos I can tell that Mark, Judith, Phyllis and Patty were there. If there were others Carol will let me know and I will add their names. The Tuesday before that they made sure that all of the warps and skeins were pre washed so that they were ready to go into the mordent first thing. Then they let the colors fly!
The warps were then wrapped and waiting until this morning when the rinsing and spinning out the excess dye happened. Susan and Kris did a lot of that this morning and I think that Karin helped this afternoon.
While all the rinsing was happening I saw a warp that Shirley was putting on her loom. It was a warp that Carol had wound. Then Joycelyn cut her towel warp off of her loom!
Now for Show and Tell! Charlotte was here today and she showed off some napkins and placemats she wove at home. Charlotte has a natural gift for color and texture and she uses all of our loom waste to make beautiful things. Patty brought in a lovely wrap that reminded us of a butterfly, you can be sure there were several of us that asked for the specific measurements so that we can try it on our own!
That is all for today, until next week this is Tina, for all

From Far Away!

This week I am far away on vacation with some kids and grandkids, but they said that I could'nt get off of blog duty! I have brought some spinning projects and some knitting. Today our field trip was to the Aquarium in Charleston.
Back in TN, Roz is back and she brought her daughter Brooke!
Karin is at the loom today, Shelley and Judith are washing warps and skeins for Dye Day this Thursday and Friday, and Susan is hard at work on another wool scarf.
Phyllis is busy winding a warp, Jenny is weaving on her shawl and Pearl is looking at a new warp (I think)
Beside Pearl, Patty is winding on a new warp, and on the table looms Erin and her Mother are hard at work.
Mark is at his loom weaving placemats and Judith is threading her warp through the reed, Carol and Shirley are at the serger with Shirley's towels. On the other side of the room, Betsy is winding the last section of her warp and Roz is getting a warp on her floor loom!
For Show and Tell, Linda brought in some towels she has finished, Patty and Pearl did a fashion show of their 1 twist shawls. Judith did her own fashion show on a woven jacket and Mark showed off another colorful towel!
That is all I have for you today, I am off to the beach for an evening walk! I'll catch up you next week, until then this is Tina for all!

All Wound Up!

Carol was in the studio today! I know that she usually is because she is our fearless leader, but she wasn't supposed to be there, her plans were cancelled at the last minute. Carol got here before the rest of us and got the new inventory tagged and ready to go upstairs.
There were warps being wound all over the place today! Erin had her project on the board in the kitchen and Betsy had one going on the bookcase! Marilyn had one going by the door like last week but I didn't get a picture of that.
It seems that the last couple of months have been all about winding warps! Part of the reason is that we are continually finishing projects like Shirley who is very quickly finishing her towel warp. Another reason is that in a couple of weeks there is going to be another Dye Day, and to make the most of our time at the dye pots there has to be plenty of warps and weft skeins like the ones that Marie is winding today.
Later on in the day I caught Erin putting her new warp on the loom and Shirley cutting off the last of the towel warp!
For Show and Tell we have the long awaited (at least for me!) Poncho wrap thingy that Patty made from that beautiful warp! She first showed us her new lables and then modeled the Poncho/Wrap thingy two ways.
That is all for this week, until next time this is Tina, for all
